What is cad / cam?
Cad / cam is a computerized tool that will allow the dentist to custom-fabricate tooth colored restoration in the dental office and cement it, in one appointment.
How does the cad / cam work?
The first step in using dental cad / cam is tooth preparation. The second step is taking a picture with a camera that sends the image and the dimensions of the prep to the computer. The restoration is then designed by the computer, and the dentist selects the shade of the restoration. The selected material is placed in the machine. The machine then will, in just a few minutes, fabricate a custom-fitting restoration, which will be fitted on the tooth, adjusted, and finally bonded to the tooth all in one appointment.
