What is an immediate denture?

Immediate dentures are dentures constructed before all the teeth are extracted and placed immediately after removal of the remaining teeth. In most cases, the remaining teeth are the front teeth. Back teeth are usually removed before the construction of the immediate denture.

What is the advantage of immediate denture?

What is the disadvantage of immediate dentures?

• Little discomfort after the insertion of the denture till the extraction sites heal.
• The positions and the look of the front teeth can’t be evaluated until the denture is inserted.
• Immediate dentures will require a permanent reline in 4-6 month after the insertion to accommodate the space created by the shrinkage of the supporting bone tissues during healing.
