News on Monday, March 15, 2010 9:12 AM

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- New Jersey Women and AIDS Network (NJWAN), the only statewide female-specific AIDS service organization, has launched "I Stand With NJWAN", a year-long HIV action and awareness campaign intended to mobilize families, individuals, corporations, social service agencies, and the faith-based community to band together and stand up for the lives of women in NJ. At 35%, New Jersey has the highest estimated proportion of women living with AIDS in the nation. To learn more about the campaign, please visit http://njwan.org/campaign/index.html or call NJWAN at 732-846-4462.

Monique Howard, NJWAN executive director warns that, "No longer can we exist in silos. We have to work together, shoulder-to-shoulder, within our neighborhoods, city and state to protect ourselves from HIV disease and our loved ones. The silence, shame and the stigma associated with HIV must not continue to destroy our families."

Stand with NJWAN:

1.Spring Into Action -- Attend the luncheon, silent auction and awards event on March 27, 2010 at the Pines Manor. For tickets visit http://njwan.org/events.html
2.Take the Pledge – Pledging is FREE. The 2010 goal is 5000 pledges. Sign a pledge card, then take action to increase awareness about HIV/AIDS.
3.Become a Partner – Demonstrate your active investment in women in NJ and become a corporate sponsor, event host and/or NJWAN workshop attendee.
4.Attend A Round Table Discussion – Participate in local small group discussions organized by NJWAN and contribute ideas and strategies to help end the silence.
