I have been having severe soreness on the inside of my gums between tooth 15 and 16 for many years. The soreness is only between these two teeth. The soreness always coincides with sinus and jaw pain. I had a root canal and crown on the tooth thinking that perhaps the tooth was the issue, but this did not help. The last dentist that I went to diagnosed this as a sinus infection issue. Antibiotics cleared it up for about 3 days, but it quickly returned. None of the dentists that I have gone to are willing to pull the tooth because it does not give me pain when percussed. The ENT that I go to simply gives me antibiotics also.

The endodontist that did the root canal told me that he could not get to all of the roots because of their size, and that there could be some nerve left in them. I am at my wit's end with this problem. Could this still be a tooth issue?

When you write that the soreness always coincides with sinus pain! is it pain on one side or both sides, if it is on one side, then it is very possible that the pain is coming from a tooth in that area, a clinical examination and X-rays to the area will be needed.

I would recommend getting a second opinion from another endodontist, you need to find out weather the problem is from the root canled tooth or not, and if it is then you need to find out what are the availabe treatment option (if the tooth is savable or not).
