Second Free Children's Dental Day, Expert Source on Children's Dental Health Available

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- (Scottsdale, AZ; Tuesday, April 22, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. MST) WHAT:

Dr. Lee Weinstein, a leading Arizona pediatric dentist in Scottsdale, and his practice Dental Associates for Kids Only (DAFKO) (http://www.littlewhitetooth.com) will be offering a Second Free Children's Dental Day on Tuesday, April 22, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. MST.

Dr. Weinstein's first Free Children's Dental Day on February 19, 2008 resulted in his practice providing comprehensive exams, cleaning, fluoride treatment and necessary x-rays to 50 kids -- 20 more than planned. He and his staff donated more than $8,000 worth of services and received rave reviews from parents, patients and pediatricians.

For the Second Free Children's Dental Day, the first 30 patients who call and schedule appointments will receive free of charge: comprehensive exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments and necessary x-rays. Dr. Weinstein will also discuss homecare, nutrition and diet counseling with patients and their parents. Each patient also receives a free dental health package.

WHERE: 12020 East Shea Blvd., Suite 8, Scottsdale, AZ 85259 Phone: 480-767-5600. Map, office tour, etc.: http://www.littlewhitetooth.com.

HOW: Parents should call to schedule an appointment ASAP: 480-767-5600. INTERESTING BACKGROUND:

In addition to having the Southwest's largest toothpaste collection, with more than 250 tubes from every corner of the globe, Dr. Weinstein's travel-themed office entertains, distracts and engages kids of all ages with 100 hotel room keys, postcards from around the world, clocks showing various time zones, world maps, old suitcases, video games, movies and prizes galore.

Early childhood tooth decay (caries) is the single most common chronic childhood disease -- 20 times more common than diabetes. According to the CDC, caries among preschoolers is on the rise, reversing a half century of progress combating the disease.

ADDITIONAL STORY IDEAS:

Most kids are afraid of the dentist and other doctors because of bad early experiences. Dr. Weinstein wants to help parents help their children by:

1.) Giving them five strategies to help their kids overcome fear of dentists and doctors

2.) Recommending five key things to look for when selecting a healthcare professional for their kids

3.) Explaining the differences between a general dentist and pediatric dentist

4.) Offering six tips for caring for their kids' teeth at home
