Cancer Patients & Their Caregivers Strut the Catwalk in Hottest Spring Fashions

(Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) March 28, 2008 -- When you think about cancer, the words fabulous, glamorous and chic dont usually come to mind. But this Saturday, April 5, at the Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie, cancer patients and caregivers from Cancer Treatment Centers of America® will look fabulous and feel glamorous as they strut down the runway in this springs most chic fashions. This fashion show will change the way many people perceive cancer patients, inspiring strength, hope and healing to the thousands of others who are touched by the disease.

101.9 Lite FM and Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia will present the Runway for Hope fashion show featuring over 20 cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers. The patient and caregiver models will be wearing the latest spring fashions from participating Marley Station retailers including Macys and Vivace, and make-up and hairstyling from Regis and Wonderful Signature Hair Salons.

News Image From a physiological and psychological perspective the patients participation in the show is a life affirming event that produces a positive biological experience, said Les Daroff, PhD, Director of Mind/Body Medicine, Cancer Treatment Centers of America. The joy and happiness they experience while participating produces endorphins and a sense of wellbeing which increases serotonin making them feel really good. Since cancer currently affects 10 million people in our country its encouraging for the mall attendees to see all of these people as it gives hope to others conquering the same journey.

101.9 Lite FMs Fran Lane will host the event in the first floor of the mall with four shows throughout the day beginning at noon, 1 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm. Between shows spectators will have the opportunity to win prizes and pick up information and educational materials from cancer support organizations, including the National Breast & Ovarian Cancer Coalition and Men Against Breast Cancer. The event is free, fun and open to the public.

The Marley Station Mall is located at 7900 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, Maryland.
